TO EACH IT’S OWN:  JOKERS OF THE MULTIVERSE

Each one of us has a preferred version of the Clown Prince of crime. Some love the early 1940’s, while others love the campy and comical Joker of the 1950-1986.  I personally like the Joker reintroduced post crisis by Neal Adams in  “Joker’s Five Way Revenge in Batman # 251 and the newest more psychotic versions seen in BATMAN: TDK and latest comics.

The truth is that there are many Jokers out there. Each multiverse is said to have it’s own version of the Clown Prince of Crime and this differentiation is used to try to settle the discrepancies in continuity that DC has created by allowing stories out of canon to be published.

I will try to summarize most of these versions in the simplest way I can ( the DC Universe is extremely complex) so we can all understand the diverstity and complexity of this character.  Some of the versions you will see are familiar to you while others might be so alien that you might not even consider it a real Joker.  I personally do think they are all facets of the same character, allowed by the diversity of writers and artists that have taken they talents at depicting this iconic character.

Please follow the links to explore each version.
