New Play Arts Variant Joker Is Just…BEAUTIFUL!

Play Arts is releasing another action figure featuring the CLOWN PRINCE OF CRIME in 2015, but this one is very different from the other ones released before. See my previous report HERE

While they have released figures based on the ARKHAM ASYLUM and ARKHAM CITY JOKER, as well as a THE DARK KNIGHT JOKER and am ARKHAM ORIGINS JOKER, this one is a new and different interpretation with no real base in any of the continuities we know (unless there is some JOKERMANGA out there that I don’t know of and if is…please let me know). Anyways, this Joker is beautifully stylized, and so wild in it’s design that it does not matter if it does not belong in the Batman Universe, it is a beautiful piece to own. I love the exaggerated and flamboyant style of the whole assemble the figure wears and the face is definitely a beauty to see…let me show you what I mean with a preview.

This one comes a little late so sorry for not posting sooner but PLAY ARTS announced in the TOY FAIR 2014 earlier this year their new ARKHAM ORIGINS JOKER FIGURE. Like their previous Joker versions, this one will come with uncanny detail from the videogame, great craftsmanship (that has always categorized PLAY ARTS) and a number of accessories including additional hands and weapons as well as another head sculpt. Release date to be determined at press time, but I will be putting this one on my wish list for sure… Here is a preview of the figure to delight your eyes.

I really am waiting for the release of this figure. I had collected the other Kai Arts figures (Joker, Joker Black, and Harley Quinn) and have to say that the quality of the craftmanship is impressive for such a small action figure (as compared with the much larger Hot Toys and Enterbay). Here is a video I found reviewing the figure and makes me even more curious. I need to get my hands on this figure.

mynycclogo After a short visit to the Artist’s Alley for some autographs and visual self gratification (like I bought some nice art at the alley…) and a few panels on writing for comics (Yes, I STILL want to write for comics someday…never too old for dreaming) I had my happy run through the Exhibition Floor and grabbed the newest Joker wonders to hit the market this year and the next. Got my beautiful ENIX KAI JOKER action figure this past Wednesday at my CLS and brought that baby home.

First thing I have to say, is that the figure are packed very tightly in the package so when you get yours PULL IT OUT VERY CAREFULLY or you end up with a very disjointed Joker. And it is A PAIN IN THE ASS to put the joints together (the hardest being the hip joint).

Then I have to say that the figure is really amazing on the detailing of the costume and face. You can feel the texture of the fabric underneath your fingers and the deailed shoes finish the nice look. Definitely better figure than the Arkham Asylum Series and the Mattel Legacy. The only that come close is the Arkham City LTD Ed Joker from NYCC, but I found it too grotesque for my taste.

This one in my opinion is just perfect. He comes with two sets of hands for multiple posing as well as a gun and a set of joke teeth. Now for you all to enjoy the figure, hopefully as much as I enjoyed it myself.

Today is the much anticipated release of ARKHAM CITY and I cannot wait to pick up my copy so I can check it out. They have said so many wonderful things about the DELUXE EDITION and sincerely, I expect no less. We’ll see…and promise to report when I get my copy.

In the meantime, I have found this beautiful ARKHAM ASYLUM JOKER action figure from SQUARE ENIX that is just to die for. I have one of the regular action figures and the one from ARKHAM CITY and they are quite cool, but this one…well, look at that detail…and just DROOOOL!
