This is a concept art of the Joker to star in the new ARKHAM ORIGINS game being developed by WB Games Montreal.  The studio has apparently reported that Mark Hamill WILL NOT reprise his version of the villain this time but that instead the ORIGINS Joker will be voice by Troy Baker

And from this preview we are going to be looking to a much younger version of the Clown Prince of Crime, probably the reason for selecting a much younger voice actor to portray him.

arkhamoriginsWB Montreal has announced the release of the ARKHAM ASYLUM/ CITY prequel titled ARKHAM ORIGINS.  According to the announcement,  WB Games Montreal is taking over Rocksteady for the development of this game and from the looks of it,  Paul Dini (who wrote the story for the previous games) is not attached to the project this time.

Sadly, rumors has it (from WB representative it seems)  that Mark Hamill might not return to reprise his Joker role this time.

Along with the first trailer, news of the voice cast for the game has dropped courtesy of IGN. A Warner Bros. spokesperson stated Roger Craig Smith has been confirmed as the voice of Batman, while Troy Baker is confirmed as the Joker. However, Conroy seemingly confirmed at Dallas Comic Con this weekend that he’s been working on the game for the last 10 months.

The game is announced to be released in OCTOBER 25, 2013 and you can already reserve your copy at your local game shop. Here is the trailer released by WB Montreal at the moment of the announcement:

DC Comics is constantly teasing us with snippets of their new online game INFINITY CRISIS, and this time they give us a little preview of the GASLIGHT JOKER.   It really does not look anything like the Gotham by Gaslight Joker counterpart (Note:  Joker had a very small cameo in the graphic novel), but I guess that version did not addapt well to the game so they took some liberties with the character.  Take a look at this preview and tell me what you think:

Game play preview:

Universe of Origin: Gaslight

The prosperous Age of Invention’s most infamous serial killer, Gaslight Joker butchers his opponents with bloody cleaver and swarms of starving rats.

Word traveled through Gotham of a “Laughing Butcher” who, with a joke and smile, led unsuspecting street dwellers beneath his shop to feed his pet rats. Batman heard these tales and sought this butcher out. The butcher fled and, in his flight, plummeted into a vat of chemicals. His face bleached and frozen into a mad mocking grin, he was transformed into “the Joker”.

Gaslight Joker wades into fights with sweeping strikes of cleaver and ham, often followed by his “pets,” a ravenous swarm of starving rats

injusticejokerpicWB has announced that Batgirl will be the next DLC character to be released for the videogame INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US and what better idea than to introduce her in  the context of the now classic KILLING JOKE storyline.  They even have a Killing Joke Joker skin I am dying to download myself for my game, hope it comes with the package or can be bought separately soon (it’s easier than earn them points to unlock stuff, believe me. I am just starting to get the basic moves of the characters).  In the meantime, enjoy this clip introducing Batgirl to the INUSTICE universe.

INJUSTICE:  BATGIRL vs. JOKER

NOTE:  Batgirl available through Season Pass and KILLING JOKE package sold separately

infinitycrisispicSomeone heard my prayers and it seems that the multiverse of playable characters are not going to be limited to heroes, but that villains are in the roster too…especially JOKER.  And in this trailer, you can take a peek of at least 2 (maybe 3 different Jokers in the game)  Enjoy the trailer:

…Not a lot of information has been released so far. You have to admit the idea of playing as GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT Batman sounds pretty cool. It will be a free-to-play MOBA and you’ll be able to recruit a roster of heroes and villains to command.

Looking at the website, we see listed under ‘Champions’ the following characters:

  • Nightmare Batman
  • Doomsday
  • Flash
  • Gaslight Batman
  • Gaslight Catwoman
  • Gaslight Joker
  • Green Lantern
  • Poison Ivy
  • Shazam
  • Joker
  • Wonder Woman
  • Zatana

It’s safe to assume we’ll be seeing a lot more characters added to this list. New characters are promised to be added each month.

There are also some of the different Universes listed:

  • Prime (Earth-0)
  • Arcane (Earth-13)
  • Atomic (Earth-17)
  • Gaslight (Earth-43)
  • Mecha (Earth-44)

infinitycrisispic

Players Can Register Now for a Chance to Participate in the Beta

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Infinite Crisis, an all-new multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Turbine, the award winning studio behind free-to-play online games including The Lord of the Rings Online™. Infinite Crisis is a free-to-play game that features a deep roster of DC Comics characters and is scheduled for release in 2013 for the PC.

Infinite Crisis is a new entrant into the wildly popular MOBA genre that delivers a heart-pounding competitive player vs. player battle experience set in the legendary DC Multiverse – a world in which familiar DC Comics characters have been reimagined in startling ways. Featuring a wide variety of DC Comics heroes and villains, Infinite Crisis puts players in control of twisted incarnations of their favorite characters throughout the Multiverse such as Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman, playing in league with well-known characters including Green Lantern and The Flash.

And I wonder…Will we be able to batttle  multiverse versions of the Joker as well? Hmm…there’s a thought.

injusticejokerpic Scanning the Tube, I was thrilled to checkout the latest on the Joker appearance on the game.  I found a few vids I would like to share with Jokerdom and have to say that even if he is the real thing or not (for details read the latest INJUSTICE: GODS AMONGS US comic prequel) but I have to say… I LOVE HIS MOVES.

I think they captured the Joker’s whimsical fighting style with lots of interesting darker aspects of his personality from recent storylines. He is funny….and at the same time…DARKER (like Arkham Asylum’s Mr. J).  I like this Joker much more than the one I saw  and heard in DC vs MORTAL COMBAT video game (though I think the problem there was the dialogue not the voice acting).

Oh, and the voice…suits him very nice…Mr. Epcar has definitely matured into the character.  ENCORE!

Check these guy out…

injusticejokerpicOk, I needed to know  how they were going to make Joker a playable character after the events of the INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US comic storyline between him and the Boy Scout and this just made me smile…Hope he IS the real one this time…

The buzz is out that WB is acquiring domains with the name Arkham because there are plans of expanding the game with a new Pre-Arkham Asylum game depicting Batman and Joker’s first encounter as well a movie based on the acclaimed game series.

So far it only a rumor, but the move from the WB staff makes this quite suspicious and rises the question:

If they DO make a movie from the Arkham Asylum or Arkham City games, would Mark Hamill (who has officially retired from the character) come back to reprise his incredible and memorable role?

Personally, I hope so.  He started the series, there can’t be any other Joker for this series than him.  Let’s see how these news develop.  In the meantime, read the news excerpt:

Cosmic Book News was the first to tell you about plans for a DC movie universe with the Man of Steel spearheading it all as well as the Justice League movie in 2015 and a Batman reboot tentatively set for 2016.

jokerarkham-city

Regarding the Batman reboot, one detail we were told was that it was being “thrown around” that the movie might be based on the popular Batman: Arkham Asylum video game, and that this would be set in the same world as the Justice League movie.

Now, interestingly enough, we learn that Warner Bros. is apparently registering a number of domains with the name “Arkham.”

Fusible.com put it together that Arkham websites are being registered through MarkMonitor, a private domain registrant that Warner Bros. has used most recently on the likes of the 300 sequel.

Some of the domains include: “BatmanArkhamLegend(s),” “BatmanArkhamUniverse,” “DarkKnightArkham” and more.

Of course, it’s also quite possible Warner Bros. is registering these for the third “Arkham” video game as well, which has been said to be a prequel starring the Justice League and featuring Batman’s first meeting with the Joker and a story set in the Silver Age i.e. the 1950s.

(Reprinted from COSMIC BOOKNEWS posted by Mat McGloin 1-12-2013)

This clearly follows up from COSMIC BOOKNEWS orignal report back in September 2012:

…We’re told there are some “mumblings” around Warner Bros. that they may want the Batman reboot (tentatively scheduled for  2016) based on the popular Batman: Arkham Asylum video game, and that this would be set in the same world as the Justice League movie.

We’re told DC Entertainment have thought long and hard about having several different universes, but through the success of Marvel, have decided that it wouldn’t make sense to the audience and financially to have numerous actors playing the same roles year by year.

Now if the rumor is true and Warner Bros. does indeed go forth with a new Batman movie based on Arkham Asylum, that brings with it some rather interesting questions.

First off all, the obvious inclusion of the Joker. This would certainly bring up reference to Heath Ledger in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. So would Warner Bros. go with it? It could be said that the Joker is a Batman villain, the Batman villain, in addition, the Nolan-verse was its own thing and is over. There is also the fact the added hype having the Joker “come back” would give to the movie. Interestingly enough, the Joker is to make his first appearance in the new DC comic books next month by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. We already know the Man of Steel movie executives have a hand in the Superman comic books, so it’s not that far of a stretch to think the same about the New 52 Batman.

jokerarkham-cityIt seems that Rocksteady, the company behind the blockbuster games ARKHAM ASYLUM and ARKHAM CITY want to squeeze a little more profit from the franchise by adding another chapter to the series, this time insipired in the golden age of BATMAN.  And not only that…it is rumored that the new storyline might involve the Joker…again

What is it?  No other criminals in Gotham are capable of producing havoc and mayhem enough to feed an interesting story for the upcoming game?  Now don’t take me wrong, bring me all the Joker you can get me.  I loved the Clown in both games, even after his demise at the end of ARKHAM CITY, but I think that recruiting the Clown for just another head to head against his favorite caped vigilante DEMANDS a good storyline, not just a filler.

And who should voice Joker if he is indeed coming back?  We all know the answer to that, don’t we?

Here is IGN’s report on the sequel
