MARK ROMANOSKI is a very impressive artist, having studied under Peter Caras, a Norman Rockwell protege, as well as having being an assistant to Tim and Greg Hildebrandt. Romanoski has produced multiple images for private collectors, Batman, Marvel and Fantasy art.

I find this piece just magnificent in the technique, at the same time hilarious in the theme.  A parody of one of Norman Rockwell’s most famous paintings (see below), Joker basically pays a visit to Rockwell’s studio and takes care of business in his usual murderous way, but being the clown he is, he decides to show off his talent at the canvas before leaving the scene. The piece has been exhibited at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art.  Please click below if you like it and leave me your opinion…

From TOY FAIR 2012 in New York and SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES comes the first pictures of the new SQUARE ENIX ARKHAM ASYLUM HARLEY QUINN. It is a larger reproduction from the Arkham Asylum series 1 Harley Quinn, but with much more points of articulation and the fact that it is Harley the one including a Scarface puppet accessory instead of the original that appeared with the Joker figure.  Here are some pics:

I normally don’t do this but this Joker story picked up my curiosity.  The author is a friend of mine and asked me to check it out and after reading the first chapter she had me hooked. I think it is a very well executed story catching the Jester’s sadistic humor perfectly in the development of an entertaining story. Three chapters have been posted. I would like to ask all Jokerholics to check her story out too and spread the word if you like it.

Author’s summary:

Robert Clearwater, a novelist who roams place to place in search of new stories, has recently moved to Gotham City with his family in the hopes of gathering inspiration for his newest story. The only odd thing about his new life is the strange next door neighbor in the abstract-looking house that likes to wear purple suits. After his curiosity gets the better of him, Robert finds himself thrown into an uneasy contract with one of Gotham’s most dangerous criminals, where any attempt to escape results in certain death for him and his family. Little does he know what kind of mind games his grinning neighbor will play with him… Rated T for language, thematic elements, and some violence. Multi-chaptered. In progress right now, updating about a chapter a week.

jokerz2Hey Jokerholics,

The new Batman game of GOTHAM CITY IMPOSTORS has been posted in SONY PS3 STORE and is ready for download.  The game is priced at $14.95 but you can download a free demo.  The Full Access Key is what costs money to buy so you can play the whole levels.

One word of caution:  I bought my copy and I’m having technical difficulties with my installation.  The specialists at PS3 Store told me it could be a corrupted file so be careful with the download.  It does not affect any other function of the PS3 console, but the game freezes and don’t start. I’ll let you know when I fix the problem and keep you all posted.

jokeryoungjusticeSome time ago I brought to you the Joker’s first appearance of  in the YOUNG JUSTICE series.  Back then I said (and I reaffirm what I said)  that though Mr. Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek The Next Generation)  is no Mark Hamill, I don’t doubt he has the talent to fill in the shoes of the Clown Prince of Crime’s voice.  Part of the problem in that first appearance was that the script wrote for Joker in that particular episode was poorly conceived, but…

…Anyways, given that the series can be better written, I want to say that Mr. Spiner also needs to work a little bit on entonation and purpose of the voice (kind of understanding what makes Joker tic).  And above all, he has to WORK ON THE LAUGHTER.

Joker’s laughter’s is just chilling.  When you hear him laugh, you should know nothing good is coming from this clown.  Yes, he is charming, but he is also scary. His laughter will make you soil your pants…  I have an example here and though I have to admit that my friend LORDJAZOR’s dubbing sounds like Hamill (his talent with the Joker voice), the whole point of the comparison is to show what a little change in mood and purpose of the voice actor can do to the presence of a character on the screen.  JUST…LISTEN…

THIS IS MR. BRENT SPINER’S RENDITION of JOKER

And theSAME PASSAGE, but DUBBED BY LORDJAZOR.

NOW…..Which one sounds better?  I know the answer, do you?  I’m sure Mr. Spiner has  time to get it right.

Other  posts I’ve made regarding LORDJAZOR’S Joker can be found HERE, HERE and HERE .

And a million thanks to LORDJAZOR for dubbing this  for the fans ( and it helped me since I was dying to write this little note).  You can hear more of LORDJAZOR’s voice magic on his YouTube channel HERE

In the past I have said that I’m not impressed by the British theatrical version of JOKER in BATMAN LIVE, but the more videos I see, the more curious I become as how well, do comic book characters (as iconic as the Clown himself, or Scarecrow, or Two Face) can translate to the theatrical media.

Here they don’t have the benefit of the CGI tricks or the stunts double-action scene editing.  This is all live, so the margin for error is greater and the physical demands are much more… well, demanding.  I’ve collected a few videos from YouTube that i would like to share, and you guys let me hear what you think

Just click on the windows below to see a summary of BATMAN LIVE!

I THINK THIS IDEA IS GAINING INTO ME… AND DON”T THIS HARLEY LOOKS A LOT LIKE HER SUICIDE SQUAD COUNTERPART??

A few months ago, I reported that catching on the success of Arkham City, WB was launching a new video game bringing Batman against some of his most deadly foes in a one and one-on-one combat situations.  Among them, Batman will face Joker once more.   Well, the app is available now through your iTunes account to download to your iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.  This is the game DC’s Ian Settler’s report on DC BLOG:

I was worried I’d never see daylight again. That’s seriously a concern I had while playing Batman: Arkham City over the holidays this year. We all love comics (obviously) and we all love video games, so the amazing combination of Batman and brutality that was Arkham City had a lot of us spending quite a bit of time sitting inside with our game consoles. This week I’m happy to bring good news for those of you looking to expand the Arkham City experience and possibly breathe some fresh air at the same time. Batman: Arkham City Lockdown is an app available now exclusively for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. What’s that, you ask? Take a look:

“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced that the Batman: Arkham City Lockdown App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the App store. The App brings the Batman: Arkham City franchise, one of the most highly acclaimed and best-selling videogame releases of 2011, to the App Store for the first time featuring stunning graphics and original combat gameplay created exclusively for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

“Developed by NetherRealm Studios, creators of Mortal Kombat, Batman: Arkham City Lockdown features several of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, including The Joker, Two-Face and Solomon Grundy, as well as i0S-exclusive character Deathstroke, and engages players in one-on-one combat as they seek justice in a variety of Arkham City environments.”

So not only does this game give me Deathstroke(!) and Solomon Grundy but also all-new environments and the ability to take it with me wherever I want to go? I’m going to stop typing this All Access right now and download the App. Seriously. I’ll see you all next week. Go play Batman: Arkham City Lockdown. Deathstroke!!!

(YOU CAN ALL SEE A JOKER VIDEO FROM THE ACTUAL GAME IN MY PREVIOUS POST, JUST FOLLOW THE LINK ABOVE)

The world of comic book art is saddened by the sudden death of Brazilian Artist AL RIO.  His death, ruled out a suicide, puts an end to a prolific and promising career of an artist that dealt in many aspects of comic book art as he worked with all major publishers, and also as erotic and pin-up artist.  His pencils and inks will be dearly missed.

He had contributed some Joker images to the fandom that I would like to share with you all now.
