I found this little movie on Walmart  ($9.96)and could not hold a smile.  I remember old Alvin and the Chipmunks shows when I was little, but THE BATMUNK?  Yes, this is a small short (part of a trio of stories) that features Batman  against the Joker, but Chipmunk’s style.  Now take a look at a few stills of the movie, it brought fond memories of my childhood…

darkknightreturns00Hey friends, this is the preview of DC’s upcoming animated movie THE DARK KNIGHT as it appeared in SUPERMAN: THE ELITE; with interviews with Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett among others.  This is part one of the preview, since part two will appear later in the year and they will keep us waiting into finding out who are they going to hire to voice Joker…like always.  I vote for Hammill first, then DiMaggio second and if they want an unknown actor…I’m sure Lordjazor would love to lend his voice.  Keep your eyes peeled and for the moment, enjoy this:

DC announced that their new animated project will be an adaptation of Frank Miller’s 1986 master graphic novel THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.  The company also announced that they have casted PETER WELLER (Robocop) to voice the Dark Knight, which leaves the question….who could be a good choice to voice the Joker in the story?  I’m dying to know and  I hope that they do make a good choice as the latest voice choices have been in my humble opinion, to put it nicely…less than appropiate for the character.  (Though I have to admit I loved Joe DiMaggio’s voice acting in Under the Red Hood)

Here is DC’s original report and some previews of the animation project:

darkknightreturns00

RoboCop star Peter Weller provide the voice of Batman in Warner Bros.’ animated adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns, the seminal 1986 miniseries by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson, Heat Vision reports. Ariel Winter (Modern Family) will play Robin.

First rumored about a year ago, and then officially announced in July at Comic-Con International, the direct-to-video adaptation will be released in two parts under the DC Comics Premiere Movie banner, which apparently will replaced the five-year-old DC Universe Animated Original Movies. Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, Part 1 will debut in the fall, with Part 2 arriving in early 2013.

Weller and Winter will be joined by veteran actor David Selby (Dark Shadows), Wade Williams (Prison Break) as Two-Face/Harvey Dent, and Michael McKean as Dr. Wolper, the psychiatrist who releases the Joker from the asylum.

The films are directed by Jay Oliva, who not only storyboarded Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, but also helmed Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and several episodes of Cartoon Network’s Young Justice. Oliva also has in his corner exectuive producer Bruce Timm, who has overseen most of DC’s animated projects since Batman: The Animated Series.

Dark Knight Returns is the granddaddy of beloved comics properties that we’ve ever attempted [to adapt],” Timm said. “There is definitely the imperative to get it right.”

Set a decade after an aging Bruce Wayne quit crimefighting in the wake of Jason Todd’s death, The Dark Knight Returns brings Batman out of retirement to save Gotham from sinking deeper into decay and lawlessness. With the help of a new, female Robin, Carrie Kelly, the Dark Knight ends the threat of the mutant gangs that have overrun the city and confronts two of his greatest enemies. But then he must face his former ally Superman in a battle that only one will survive.

jokeryoungjusticeSome time ago I brought to you the Joker’s first appearance of  in the YOUNG JUSTICE series.  Back then I said (and I reaffirm what I said)  that though Mr. Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek The Next Generation)  is no Mark Hamill, I don’t doubt he has the talent to fill in the shoes of the Clown Prince of Crime’s voice.  Part of the problem in that first appearance was that the script wrote for Joker in that particular episode was poorly conceived, but…

…Anyways, given that the series can be better written, I want to say that Mr. Spiner also needs to work a little bit on entonation and purpose of the voice (kind of understanding what makes Joker tic).  And above all, he has to WORK ON THE LAUGHTER.

Joker’s laughter’s is just chilling.  When you hear him laugh, you should know nothing good is coming from this clown.  Yes, he is charming, but he is also scary. His laughter will make you soil your pants…  I have an example here and though I have to admit that my friend LORDJAZOR’s dubbing sounds like Hamill (his talent with the Joker voice), the whole point of the comparison is to show what a little change in mood and purpose of the voice actor can do to the presence of a character on the screen.  JUST…LISTEN…

THIS IS MR. BRENT SPINER’S RENDITION of JOKER

And theSAME PASSAGE, but DUBBED BY LORDJAZOR.

NOW…..Which one sounds better?  I know the answer, do you?  I’m sure Mr. Spiner has  time to get it right.

Other  posts I’ve made regarding LORDJAZOR’S Joker can be found HERE, HERE and HERE .

And a million thanks to LORDJAZOR for dubbing this  for the fans ( and it helped me since I was dying to write this little note).  You can hear more of LORDJAZOR’s voice magic on his YouTube channel HERE

jokervgaAs it is expected of video gaming (as it has happened in animation well) the creators of games can play around with the characters, even make it possible for them to accept awards in shows like this.  I had a picture, but my friend Candiss Gandy was kind enough to forward me the video of the whole acceptance speech Joker made at the VGA.  It is just fulled of zanny fun.  Please enjoy this funny video (and look at what Joker is holding in his hands.  Special thanks to  for posting this videos on YouTube :

Could they really be thinking of making an ARKHAM WORLD? And now that Joker is dead…who should be the main baddie in this new project? I don’t know. Maybe Joker is pulling our legs, but he might have a son really soon that might be as crazy as he was if Harley is in charge or his ‘education’. Who knows…something tells me this might be leading to the JOKERZ….

Time to check all the clues left in ARKHAM CITY about what’s going to be going on next… As a bonus, I’m including a video of Joker’s nomination for the VGAs

jokeryoungjusticeI have been a little behind in this little lead, since I don’t have much time to watch cartoons these days, but I plan on  changing that and start catching up as this Joker is different from anything I have seen before.  From what I know it is voiced by Brent Spiner (Data, Star Trek: Next Generation) and though he does not sound anything like Mark Hamill or Joe DiMaggio, I think he might be into someting  good. The main problem in this episode I think is poor writing. Joker did not have much chance to show off and the jokes were kind of lame. Hope they get someone who REALLY understands the Joker’s psyche for future episodes. Regarding Mr. Spiner, I think he just needs time to get into character a little bit more.  You can hear that he is not too comfortable with the Clown yet and mostly, he needs to work on that laugh. To me, it is not maniacal enough.  Now, Mr. Spiner is no stranger to voice acting and I’m sure he could really nail this character given him time.  Let’s see how this goes in future appearances. Mr. Spiner has very big shoes to fill with Joker’s character after the work of previous voice actors and on top of that, he has to emboss that special “Spiner magic” (which is not there yet) to make THIS Joker his and unique.

In the meantime I took the liberty of bringing you SEASON 1 EPISODE 14 “REVELATIONS” part one and two with Joker in it.

For Part 2 Please go to the menu JOKER CHRONOLOGY and click on JOKER TV AND FILM then scroll down to the animted YOUNG JUSTICE

IRREVERENT BUT HILARIOUS!

I was just browsing around and found the ADULT SWIM site with some of clips from their ROBOT CHICKEN SERIES.  Upon searching for Joker, I found this hilarious clip (Mark Hamill voices Joker and (I think) Tom Kane (who sound just likre Morgan Freeman, voices Manta):
