If any of you thought the Harley from ARKHAM CITY was the new version of this character…think again
The guys at NETHEREALM STUDIOS have reinvented the character once more and she will be joining the already large cast of the new videogame INJUSTICE: GODS AMONGS US.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a bold new fighting game franchise featuring a large cast of favorite DC Comics icons such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Solomon Grundy and many others, and set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred. The game is being developed by NetherRealm Studios and is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Nintendo Wii U.
I don’t know what to make about this new version. Yes, she needed to evolve, but there were some small perks that made Harley both cute and lethal at the same time. Now it just seems that the scale tilts towards the psycho and not so cute. Another thing, no Joker in this series means that the Clown is really dead in the entire videogameworld? I agree about uncertainty with the direction Harley seems to be taking though.
New Harley = Female Joker with a crush. I’m not happy with how they redesigned her in the comics, but at least she’s not so much of a Joker-dependent little milquetoast anymore. I still wish they would have kept the “cute” aspect in the sense of “effed-up, psychotic hyper chick”; why couldn’t she still have been a Perky Female Minion AND a psychotic bitch? Old Harley had sex appeal, but it wasn’t a huge part of what she was in the way that it is for Catwoman or Poison Ivy (ESPECIALLY Ivy). New Harley seems to be walking Fetish Fuel. Old Harley actually had a pollyanna type personality which actually could be explained as being a part of her mental illness; New Harley seems to have “grown out of it”. I’m just not sure I like what they did with her and I kinda would rather they bring the Old Harley back with elements of the newer Harley in it. There’s nothing scarier than a former psychologist who is just so damn optimistic and cute, but then takes just as much glee in killing as the Joker does, all while maintaining that same happy demeanor. They could have made her an even scarier threat, and they could have actually made her stand up to the Joker for once and possibly even harm him (she MORE than deserves that much, doesn’t she? At least let her punch the Joker in the face or something; maybe break his nose for what he’s done to her). She can still be in love with him, but why not make it much more of an obsessive, stalkery, unhealthy “You are mine and mine only, Mista J” style pseudo-love? I realize it already is, but I mean make it even MORE so, to the point that she gets overly angry if anyone other than her harms J (including Batman). Now THAT is the kind of Harley Quinn I wanna see, and knowing how much the Joker likes pain, it might even be the kind of girl he’d actually fall for (assuming he would ever fall for anyone, which is unlikely since he’s a narcissistic psychopath). At the very least, a Harley with that kind of feel to her would be much more able to survive in the Joker’s presence. Plus, I think it’d be actually kinda hot, but that’s just me. It’s just sad that for some J/Harley fans would rather see him dominate her when she could be much more, plus it’d be interesting to see them *both* in an abusive relationship – imagine my variant of Harley getting into a fight with J, both of them ending up injured pretty bad, in the middle of a freaking war zone that was once a lair, and Harley goes, “… So Mista J, are we done now?” And J goes, “Yes. Yes, I do believe we are.” But again, that’s my opinion – I’d just like to see her stand up to J and win every so often.
Psi Yamaneko is correct in stating that the Joker is indeed apparently going to be in the new Injustice game. An HD photo of him has already been leaked to , , and . Somehow I knew that the Clown Prince of Crime didn’t quite die in the virtual world as Arkham City has implied… No word on if he’ll be playable or not (he’d better be, Warner Bros. Interactive), but if he’s not physically in the game, he’ll at least appear in cameo. I can’t imagine WBI making a game and not featuring such an iconic DC character in it though, so odds are he’ll probably be in it in some way.
